The first round is a two day cycle, with today being the first part of the "R-CHOP". Today Holly got several bags of the "R" part, which is called rituximab. It is not the stuff that causes hair loss, that's the CHOP part of the process. We get that tomorrow, along with another dose if the rituximab. The Rituximab is essentially an antibody that targets non-hodgkins lymphoma cells, so it is attacking the cancer as I am writing this post.
Holly had a little bit of a reaction to the Rituximab in the form of a few hives, but they slowed down the drip and the benedryl they gave her before was able to handle the reaction.
A nurse also stopped by and went over her pill regimen, along with a schedule and a red bag to carry all of her pills.I had a call for work I had to hop onto, but Julia showed up to keep her Mom company before she had to head back to school. Mom loved seeing her youngest before her trip back to Knoxville. There's nothing like hearing about Physics homework complaints to realize being older isn't all that bad.
We were out of there by 2, and Holly is doing well. Not to say that all treatments and their after effects will be as pleasant, but for today, it was a good day.

I'm glad that this is getting started and you will finally be kicking that crud out of your body!!! Way to go, Holly! Keep strong. We are all sending the very best possible vibes to you to get you through the tough days ahead. Just like Ken said, "You can do it." The simple yet powerfully honest statement anyone could make. :-) I love you!
